Concrete cylinders/cubes - ASTM C31/31M Standard Practice for Making and Curing Concrete Test Specimens in the Field
This involves the making of concrete cylinders/cubes on site. These samples are cured within water baths, either at the EISL office or accommodated for on site. EISL has been offering concrete cylinder/cube compressive strength testing services for over 15 years. Recently EISL has been involved in the making of grout and mortar samples for testing.
Slump test - ASTM C143/C143M Standard Test Method for Slump of Hydraulic-Cement Concrete
This test is used to determine the workability and consistency of the concrete mix used on site. It measures the slump of the concrete in comparison to the height of the cone used to carry out the test. The slump test is conducted before any additives are added to the mix.
Schmidt Hammer Test - ASTM C805 Standard Test Method for Rebound Number of Hardened Concrete
This test provides an indication of the strength of the concrete within a structure (or rock) in terms of hardness and penetration resistance. This is a non-destructive test, where the results can be compared to laboratory compressive strength determinations.
Concrete coring - ASTM C42/C42M Standard Test Method for Obtaining and Testing Drilled Cores and Sawed Beams of Concrete
This involves the cutting of concrete cores for compressive strength testing at the laboratory. A similar setup to Asphalt coring is used.
